Evaluation Specialist, Office of Research and Engagement


The Evaluation Specialistat the National Institute for STEM Evaluation and Research (NISER) will assistin carrying out evaluation activities for STEM-related projects managed by the NISERDirector and Evaluation Manager. The Evaluation Specialist will coordinate andimplement research and evaluation protocols for programs at NISER. NISERprovides external evaluation of integrated STEM research and education programswithin and outside of the University of Tennessee. The candidate willcoordinate evaluation, research and planning with the NISER Director and NISEREvaluation Manager to meet the needs for NSF and other funding agencyreporting, manage the collection, input and maintenance of all data fromevaluation projects, and assist the NISER Director with all aspects ofevaluation and data management under her purview.

 

The Evaluation Specialistwill assist in managing the day-to-day operations of  several evaluation projects through (i)implementation of an array of evaluation and program assessment methodologiesneeded to meet the requirements of the various sponsors for reporting on theprocesses and impacts of programs evaluated by NISER (ii) analyzing andvisualizing data using appropriate statistical and visualization software; and (iii)preparing technical reports, briefings, presentations, and contributing toarticles publishable in the research literature concerning impacts of programactivities as specified in (i). The Evaluation Specialist will collaborate withthe NISER Director, Evaluation Manager and the leadership teams of various STEMfocused research and education programs in developing and publishing researchpapers associated with the evaluation of program activities.


 



Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

·         Bachelor's degree in an evaluation, educationalresearch, psychology, or analytics field;

·        experience in quantitative and qualitative dataanalysis and data management;

·        ability to retrieve and distill storedinformation into coherent reports dealing with program outcomes;

·        expertise in project management and communication;

·        experience working collaboratively withuniversity faculty and researchers;

·        very strong organizational and written andverbal communication skills,

·        excellent data analysis skills; and

·        capable of managing multiple simultaneousprojects and producing reports appropriate to audiences at a variety of levelsof scientific understanding.


Preferred

M.S. or Ph.D. Knowledge of evaluation theory and practice; familiaritywith descriptive and inferential statistical/analytical procedures; formalcoursework in program evaluation; ability to effectively manage multipleprojects simultaneously; experience with Qualtrics, SPSS, Microsoft Officesuite, or other data collection/analysis/visualization software.  We have strong preference for an individualwith experience in STEM program evaluation, evaluation project management, andbackground in or experience with science and/or math education at postsecondaryand/or K-12 levels.
