THIS POSITION IS OPEN ONLY TO CURRENT SDSU EMPLOYEESPosition SummaryA unit within the IT Division, Learning Technologies & Environments (LTE) provides vision and leadership to support excellence in teaching and learning through active learning environments, pedagogical research, and learner-centered technologies.Instructional Technology Services (ITS) provides support and leadership to the university in the development of strategies that facilitate the successful uses of technologies to enhance teaching and learning, create effective learning environments, and facilitate research and learning innovations. The Faculty Support Specialist independently provides logistical, organizational and project support to ITS initiatives, training, events, and department facilities; serves as a liaison between ITS and its partners; and coordinates training and support for SDSU faculty on the effective use of ITS’ suite of technologies for teaching and learning. The Specialist oversees planning activities, analysis, development and evaluation of the highly complex board impact of the ITS programs. The incumbent works with ITS student assistants, interacts on a daily basis with ITS service units, and works with faculty, staff and administrators as required.For more information regarding Instructional Technology Services, click here.This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.Education and ExperienceEntry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods.This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of experience providing administrative support in a higher education setting.Knowledge of best practices in technology applications in teaching and learning and in thedelivery of academic technology support services.Knowledge of trends and future directions of technology in the learning environment.Experience handling confidential matters.Experience working in a university setting with administrators, faculty and staff.Ability to produce budget analysis reports.Ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Specialized Skills Training and User SupportAbility to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.Ability to apply interpersonal and communication skills in working with staff and users to assessneeds and provide solutions.Ability to lead, moderate, and guide large and small groups with clear objectives.Project ImplementationAbility to work effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators.Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.Ability to conceptualize, organize and implement complex, multi-faceted projects.Ability to analyze situations accurately and take appropriate action.Licenses and/or Certifications Required California driver’s license.Certification of completion of driver safety training as required by CSU Office of Risk Management must be obtained as soon as possible after hire date. Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $6,667 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,693 - $8,489 per month.
