Job Summary This document describes the duties that a new assistant or associate professor of Management at Clayton State University will have in the future. These duties may change overtime, as the needs of the College of Business may evolve.

The responsibilities of this position include teaching, research, and service activities.


Teaching responsibilities should occupy at least 60 percent of the duties of a new management faculty. Teaching includes classroom activities or online learning. In addition, the time spent preparing for teaching responsibilities (preparing teaching material, meeting with students outside of classroom to discuss course subjects, directing independent studies, supervising internships etc.). The main courses that a new assistant or associate professor of management will be specializing is MGMT 5750, the graduate strategic management capstone course, MGMT 5750, the undergraduate strategy capstone course, and global business.


An assistant or associate professor of management is expected to be involved in research activities that will lead to the publication of scholarly articles. Professional peer review of the research activity is essential to determine its quality. At least 2 articles in approved journals are expected over a five-year period. The new assistant or associate professor of management is expected to spend up to 25 percent of his or her time in scholarship activities.


The new assistant or associate professor of management is expected to be involved in service activities within the University community. He or she is expected to be involved in departmental, college, and university committees. Professional service activities may include academic expertise to serve the university, the management profession, the community, and the nation. The new assistant or associate professor of management professor should be expected to spend at least 15 percent of his or her time on service activities.

Required Qualifications

DBA or Ph.D in Management or related fields.
