Job Description Summary:

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with Dr. Helenbrook on defining p-1 exact mass lumping for SUPG stabilized continuous finite element methods
  • Error analysis of SUPG discretizations of unsteady convection problems
  • Implement numerical techniques for validating theoretical results
  • Incorporate new techniques into open-source NEK5000 code.
  • Write reports and papers
  • Assists with other projects, administrative duties and initiatives as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience using Matlab to perform symbolic mathematical analysis
  • Published paper in the area of numerical analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Qualifications*
  • Education in fluid mechanics and numerical analysis.
  • Experience in C++, Matlab, and Python programming
  • Developer of high performance computing software
  • Experience with computational fluid dynamics.
  • Experience developing with high performance computing (HPC)
  • Programming experience in C++, Python, Matlab
  • Ability to mathematically analyze errors associated with finite element methods.
  • Ability to analyze data and write journal-quality publications
  • Experience planning and scheduling research activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
