Duties and Responsibilities:•Perform experiments as instructed by the Principal Investigator. Will receive training to be able to perform the necessary techniques and protocols for experiments. May include tissue or cell cultures and animal behavior
•Perform basic lab tasks required to complete experiments. May include preparation of reagent solutions, buffers and media.
•Typical experiments will include extraction and purification of RNA/DNA/protein, mammalian cell culture and other standard molecular biology assays (e.g. PCR etc.) The initial goals are to identify genetic signatures in the brain that predict abnormal learning and memory, or neurological illness.
•Gathers, organizes and records data.
•Performs simple analysis of results.
•May assist with library and/or electronic research.
•Monitors inventory of essential lab supplies and order additional supplies as necessary.
•Maintains orderly record of purchases.
•Help maintain a safe and orderly lab environment
•Ensure compliance with safety regulations
•Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum Education Required: Bachelors Degree
Preferred: Masters Degree
Specify Degree(s): Biological or physical sciences
Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
•Ability to analyze and interpret data
•Good verbal and written communication skills in English
•Ability to deal calmly and courteously with people
•Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner
•Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and established procedures
•Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency
