Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Summary:
Under general direction, provides academic advising to students on course selection, requirements for selected area of concentration and a wide range of issues to support student success and graduation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under general direction, provides academic advising to students on course selection, requirements for selected area of concentration and a wide range of issues to support student success and graduation. Requires complete understanding of Quinlan School of Business curriculum requirements including knowledge of all majors or minors.
Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 5:00; some evening and weekend hours required
•Provides academic advising for junior and senior Quinlan School of Business students
•Assists incoming first year and transfer students through orientation programming
•Assists students in developing a meaningful academic and co-curricular plan within the Jesuit tradition.
•Assists students with meeting conditions of academic performance for students on academic probation
•Advises students via phone, e-mail, walk-in and scheduled appointments.
•Maintains accurate records using various software.
•Develops advising resources promoting student success and retention in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
•Communicates degree requirements, academic policies (including FERPA) to students, parents and faculty.
•Completes graduation audits and monitors caseload of students as they progress toward graduation; assists with commencement ceremony
•Meets with prospective students and their families as arranged by Office for Undergraduate Admissions
•Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:

Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field required and one to two years of related experience.

Qualifications:

•Experience advising or counseling college students
•Excellent interpersonal skills
•Strong attention to detail
•Ability to learn and utilize software systems that assist with academic advising, able to manage large caseload of students, ability to work in team environment.

Computer Skills:

•Computer literacy in the Microsoft suite, SIS (People Soft), Access, Excel, e-mail, and other university software.
