Job Summary:Coordinates surgery schedule for Ophthalmology Faculty. Assures equipment, supplies and staff support are available. Maximizes usage of available OR time allocated to the department. Prepares written schedule for distribution. Monitors all major financial indicators and ensures meets all targets. Works with coding and billing office as well as KMSF on revenue processes. Schedule appointments within systems to allow for communication to all departments. Coordinate scheduling of ancillary testing. Verify insurance and pre certify coverage by third party carrier of patients for surgery. Document in patient chart. Coordinate pre-op and post-operative appointments for patients with surgeon’s clinic schedule in a timely manner. Assure medical clearance are received. Adhere to established UK procedures and policies. All assignments checked for errors; always checks to see that all details in each step of a procedure have been completed; consistently complete all assigned tasks within a given time frame; maintain availability/accessibility throughout the work period; consistently completes tasks with maximum efficiency and quality; responsible for monitoring equipment and initiating repair calls; handle stress in a professional manner. Professional point of contact for all aspects of operations. Liaison to all other clinical areas when referrals and/or consults are needed and there is an issue/problem. Consistently looks for ways to improve operations and customer service. Maintains customer satisfaction as a priority and focus.

Research
In fiscal year 2016, the University of Kentucky was awarded $316.5 million in external grants and contracts. UK is one of only eight universities across the country with the full range of undergraduate, graduate, professional and medical programs on one contiguous campus, leading to groundbreaking discoveries and unique cross-disciplinary research and scholarship.
