Hofstra University is a dynamic community of more than 11,000 students from around the world who are dedicated to civic engagement, academic excellence and becoming leaders in their communities and their careers.Description:The Resident Director is a professional, 12-month, live-in position responsible for supporting the mission of the University by developing residential living environments conducive to student learning and academic success, respecting, appreciating, and advocating for the diversity of our student population, and supporting the holistic development of approximately 3500 campus residents.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

•Management of residence hall facility and occupancy issues, and campus critical incident response
•Managing a residential area of 200 to 800 residents
•Actively participates in staff recruitment, selection and training activities
•Supervision and professional development of resident assistants and/or graduate assistants
•Liaison with administrators, faculty and staff
•The development of specialized programming in the residence halls, which may include the management and growth of Themed Living Communities (TLCs), and Living Learning Communities (LLCs)
•Actively support and attend DSA and University-wide events
•Active participation in the student conduct process
•Oversight of hall government
•On call responsibilities on a duty rotation basis and evening and weekend work is required
•Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:Master’s Degree required. Candidate will posses direct or transferrable experience or comprehensive knowledge of Residential Life. Candidate will have an established record of accomplishment promoting student development programs and cultivating positive relationships that cultivate comprehensive student-centered organization. Candidate will have a passion for and experience with working students, families, and colleagues of diverse backgrounds. Candidate will posses strong counseling skills, good professional judgement, and supervisory experience. Candidate will need to exhibit good professional judgement, good computer skills, familiarity with technology and the ability to work in a team environment. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. Higher education administrative experience preferred
