Job Description The UMKC Career Services office is taking applications for an outcome-oriented Career Coach to provide direct service to students; design and deliver workshops and presentations; and collaborate with colleagues across campus to provide a comprehensive career development program. Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Promote an integrated career development programProvide career coaching individually and on a group facilitation basis for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni; assist students preparing for entering careers, seeking employment, and identifying internship/career related opportunitiesAssist students with developing professional skills such as resume writing, graduate school research and application process, job and internship searches, interview preparation, and social networkingAct as the liaison for the Humanities, Arts, and Education fields. Collaborating with relevant student groups, academic departments, and administrative departments to develop industry cluster specific programming, student preparation, and communicate opportunities to studentsDevelop and coordinate career related educational programs for classes, student organizations, groups of prospective students, and others as appropriate. Collaborate with faculty and campus partners in development and delivery of programs and messagesAssist in the recruitment, selection, and training of the undergraduate Peer Career Coaches.Possess a sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to relate empathically, effectively, and consistently with a diverse student populationAccurately document all interactions with students and graduates in career services database
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
    Demonstrated experience providing career coaching to address a broad range of career/employment questions in a university environmentExperience leading college recruitment or career development programsAdvanced knowledge of job market trends, occupational, career and employment information sources as well as the application process for graduate and professional schoolExperience designing and delivering career-related workshops and programsAn advanced understanding and ability to work with and serve individuals from diverse backgroundsDemonstrated skill in establishing effective working relationships with staff of all levels, faculty, and alumniExperience and proficiency with incorporating the use of technology to deliver career servicesStrong communication skills - writing, presentation, and interpersonal

Salary

$19.47 - $20.82/hr commensurate with experinece and education.
