Florida Atlantic University is seeking Undergraduate Metadata Specialists, Boca Raton, FL.

The Arquin Slide Collection Digitization Project: Preserving the Heritage of Latin America seeks two undergraduate students to join the project. The project, led by two professors from the Department of Visual Arts and Art History, is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The goal is to makeover 20,000 slides of Latin American and other countries available to the public. The graduate assistant will contribute to the ongoing research and other tasks related to the project.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Work under the supervision of the Co-Project Directors to create metadata to describe digitized materials following project guidelines.
  • Assist in the organization and arrangement of physical slides inboxes.
  • Work on creating exhibits for the website and conducting original research on the collection.
  • Help plan and organize a museum exhibition highlighting and showcasing the collection.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree-seeking undergraduate student with a minimum of six credit hours (or twelve if international) and a 2.0 GPA required.

Must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle repetitive tasks.

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and basic database software applications required.

Interest in photographic collections preferred.

Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.

Art and architectural history knowledge preferred.

$12.00 per hour
