Executive Director, Online Operations - Student Experience

Position Summary:

The Executive Director of Online Operations is a critical position in the Student Experience area that will oversee and provide exceptional student care, LMS support, and support an online learning culture that brings value & aligns with the IWU mission. Provides administrative leadership, in consultation with the Executive Director of Support Services, Executive Director of Student Engagement and Retention, Executive Director Student Accounts to meet the operational needs of students. Lead the Online support services team in customer service and problem resolution. Establishes an online community climate reflective of the values and practices of IWU in relation to learning, loving, praying, sharing.Develops a collaborative team approach to derive student care and support objectives to accomplish University goals Consults with appropriate IWU offices.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to Vice President of Student Experience

Education Requirements:

    Masters required, Doctoral Degree preferred
    Ten years of significant experience in leading online and distance education departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Demonstrates a Christian worldview and upholds the University's Christ-centered mission in interactions with students, faculty, and staff. Functions as a leadership liaison between all the Executive Directors of Student Experience; and processes promulgated by centralized units for academic implementation, student services, and operations.Serves in a consultative role with the PAU’s in National Global with student honesty issues, curriculum, and student management concerns.Consistent with processes and procedures developed by appropriate main campus offices, oversees continuing operation of the region of the Online platform.Track and ensure compliance of distance education initiatives with relevant regulatory and accreditation bodies.In cooperation and consultation with Marion-based functional leaders is appropriately involved in the recruiting, hiring, and evaluation online operations support.Conducts regular quality assurance checks within the online modality to maintain an atmosphere consistent with quality practices as defined by the leaders of the various functional units.Develops and audits internal systems and processes to ensure effective and efficient management of resources.Provides reports as requested to the administration on relevant issues and statistics related to the online learning and students.Develops and manages the operating budget for the Online Operations Department in consultation with the appropriate Marion campus budget officer.Develops capital budget requests for Online Operational needs and mandated timelines.Consults and coordinates with the academic Deans to ensure effective implementation of quality academic programs and services.Ensures instruction is conducted with academic integrity and rigor by conducting regular observations of faculty and providing input on faculty evaluation in coordination with academic Deans.Develops and maintains relationships with relevant organizations pertaining to online education.In conjunction with CLI and the Academic teams, develops and implements a strategy that results in an effective and efficient use of the LMS to meet the needs of our constituents.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience

  4. Leadership experience including responsibility for operational functions in a complex organization.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and efficiently manage operational and capital budgets.
