Description

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, Education and Human Services, to teach specialized courses in the Master Aesthetician program using active learning techniques. Instructor will be responsible for curriculum development, and delivery of instruction, in traditional and alternative delivery designs. Ideal candidate has experience in instructional design of courses (syllabus, COS, SOA, etc) as needed for the program, and/or holds a Cosmetology/Aesthetics Instructor license. Instructor will work closely with potential students. Instructional assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on ­campus and off ­campus classes. Related duties include participation in divisional and departmental activities such as program promotion and recruitment, program assessment, program evaluation, advisory committee participation, assisting with scheduling, and continuous process improvement. Instructor will promote and represent the program to local businesses and community organizations, review, plan and assess the program for the College Quality Review Processes. Instructor will participate in State Meetings to coordinate common efforts with other colleges and partners.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

  1. Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching ­related activities.
  2. Manage the Aesthetics classroom/laboratory.
  3. Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  4. Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  5. Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  6. Collaborate with advisory committee in program area.
  7. Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  8. Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market WCTC.
  9. Support student organizations and activities.
  10. Develop relationships with business and industry.
  11. Coordinate annual assessment of student learning and program evaluation.
  12. Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
  13. Providing Instructional Support in various Aesthetics Courses
  14. Providing Administrative Support which may include front desk operations, and inventory
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Twenty-four months (4,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience as a fully qualified worker in the occupational area of which 2,000 hours shall be within the previous five years. One year (2,000 hours) of related occupational experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.License or certification to be inclusive of potential applicants from outside Wisconsin whose states may actually grant licenses for instruction.Advanced certifications/experience in Aesthetics is desirable.Knowledge or experience with service learning strongly preferred.Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic achievement techniques.Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.Teaching – Must embrace and demonstrate the WCTC Critical Life Skills, Circle of Values and standards of teaching excellence in development and delivery of instruction.Supportive Technology:Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:Experience with Salon Booking softwareExperience with learning management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, Desire to Learn, etc.)Technology ­based Instruction ­ Experience with technology ­based instructional delivery tools (SMART boards, LCD projectors, Pivot Point LAB, etc.)Emerging Technologies ­ Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)(Optional) Experience with Distance Learning Instruction ­Essential Technology:Email ­ Experience with Microsoft OutlookTelephone ­ Experience with a voice mail systemComputer ­ Experience with Microsoft Office SuiteSupplemental Information
