The School of Public Affairs  at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor / Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Field Education Director position to begin in August 2021.

UCCS’s Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs launched in Fall 2020. Both programs are in pre-candidacy with candidacy anticipated in February 2021 and full accreditation anticipated by 2023. The typical time allocation for non-tenure-track faculty in the School of Public Affairs is 80% teaching (equivalent to 8 classes per year, 4 classes in each fall and spring semester) and 20% service.  The scholar in this position will primarily teach undergraduate-level courses in Social Work, with occasional course assignments at the graduate level as needed. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach required courses within the Social Work major as well as within an existing emphasis area [trauma informed social work practice, military social work, healthcare social work, direct social work practice (micro or macro), and/or school social work]. The position requires a flexible teaching schedule to include day and evening classes as well as the ability to teach in a variety of formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, and online). This position reports to the Chair of Social Work.

The BSW Field Director is an additional administrative appointment compensated by a 50% reduction in teaching responsibility (equivalent to 4 classes per year, 2 classes in each fall and spring semester) and a stipend during the summer. Duties include tasks specific to accreditation, student recruitment and retention, student services, community outreach and program administration.

Compensation

 

Salary Range: Generally starts at $45,000 - $60,000/year

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Tentative Search Timeline:

  • Complete applications submitted by 11:59 pm January 28, 2021 will receive full consideration; however, the posting will remain open until the position has been filled.
  • First round of interviews with the search committee expected to be held during the week of February 8, 2021.
  • Second round of interviews with the search committee and other stakeholders expected to be held during the week of February 22, 2021.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • A minimum of 24 months full-time, or equivalent, post-MSW professional social work experience.
  • An active social work license in any U.S. state by the time of hire. Must have active social work license in Colorado within 12 months of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications 

  • An earned Doctor of Social Work (DSW) or Ph.D. in Social Work (or related field).
  • At least 1 year full-time, or equivalent, Social Work Field Director, Coordinator, or Liaison experience.
  • At least 9 months of teaching and/or professional training experience in Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in teaching in a variety of formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, and online).
  • Physical Requirements

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
