Position Summary:

The UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for one or more full-time Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor of Management and Corporate Communication positions. These fixed-term, renewable faculty positions will start July 1, 2021. The teaching responsibility will be a standard 3-3 or equivalent with an emphasis on our core courses that focus on business writing and speaking. UNC Kenan-Flagler has a promotion track for clinical faculty members.

Our growing area is 24 years old and currently includes 11 full-time Management Communication faculty members who teach core and elective courses in the Undergraduate, Master of Accounting, MBA, Executive MBA, and PhD programs. Our area also includes a writing and speaking center that serves all programs in the business school; it is staffed by a full-time center director and 8-12 MBA consultants.

Educational Requirements:

Our positions require a master’s degree and/or PhD in Rhetoric, Professional Communication, English, Communication Studies, or related field. We seek creative and effective teachers who are committed to cultivating inclusive, equitable, and diverse learning environments for students—whether teaching in face-to-face classrooms or online spaces.

Qualifications and Experience:

The most competitive candidates will have university-level teaching experience in both business writing and speaking. Other helpful skills include general business knowledge and experience teaching international students. We hope to meet some new colleagues who may also have experience teaching or researching technical writing and/or healthcare communication; corporate communication; diversity, equity, and inclusion; critical thinking; and/or evolving communication technologies.
