Description:

The Institute for Mobility, Activity, and Participation, Department of Occupational Therapy, College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month non-tenure track Clinical Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor to serve as a Driver Rehabilitation Specialist. The successful applicant will contribute to the Driver Rehabilitation Therapy program (https://drt.ot.phhp.ufl.edu/), funded research (https://mobility.phhp.ufl.edu/category/research/) and clinical driver evaluations and interventions at SmartDriver (https://ufhealth.org/uf-smartdriver-rehab).

The Department of Occupational Therapy (http://ot.phhp.ufl.edu/ ) is a top-ten ranked Department among all other occupational therapy departments in the USA, according to the 2020 U.S. News and World Report, and a national leader in occupational therapy education and research. Home to the Institute for Mobility, Activity and Participation (https://mobility.phhp.ufl.edu/), the Department has active and federally funded research programs targeting assessment and intervention in the areas of driving rehabilitation and community mobility, learning and developmental disabilities, and aging. The Department offers outstanding academic programs that include a Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science program, a BHS-OTD accelerated program and a post-professional certificate in Driver Rehabilitation Therapy. The Department of Occupational Therapy is housed in the College of Public Health and Health Professions (http://phhp.ufl.edu/) and the UF Academic Health Science Center. The academic environment provides a rich context for instructing in the only university-affiliated Driver Rehabilitation Therapy program in the U.S., conducting research on medically-at-risk populations, and rendering Driver Rehabilitation Services at UF’s SmartDriver.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have an entry-level professional degree and be licensed/license-eligible as an occupational therapist or other regulated and licensed health care professional in the state of Florida. Bachelor's or Master’s level degree hire will be appointed at the Clinical Lecturer title while a Ph.D. or equivalent is required for the Clinical Assistant Professor level.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred applicants will be a certified driver rehabilitation specialist (CDRS), or a driver rehabilitation specialist eligible to complete the certification examination of the Association for Driver Rehabilitation Specialists (ADED), shortly after being hired. Two years of driving rehabilitation experience is essential.
