Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

•Experience working with medium voltage, distribution voltage, or voltages greater than 601 volts.
•Low voltage systems to include 480v, 120/208v.
•Experience using electrical test equipment and other specialized tools. i.e. voltmeters, locator, termination tools, hot stick.
•Knowledge of safety practices, or procedures.
•Interpret and explain electrical system one lines, diagrams, drawings, or schematics.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Operation and setting of digital relays.
•Calculate voltages, current resistance, and power.
•Must possess Texas Class “C” Driver’s License and maintain eligibility to drive a university vehicle pursuant to the University’s Driver Selection Policy.
•Able to be on call; work outside normal working hours (including holidays); work special events.

Job Description:

To perform tasks in electrical systems. Responsible for installation, maintenance, and evaluation of all equipment related to electrical distribution systems. Installs, maintains, repairs, and modifies 12Kv, 5Kv, voltages greater than 601, Low voltage 480v and 120/208v, switchgear, underground and overhead facilities, cabling systems, lighting systems, and emergency systems. Assists in cable installation, re-lamping, duct bank installation, and manhole maintenance. Performs related duties as assigned. May train personnel on operational and maintenance procedures as required.

Job Duties:

•The calibration, installation, modification, maintenance and repair of distribution electrical systems and equipment.
•Complete work orders using automated maintenance program systems.
•Execute the preventative maintenance (PM) program.
•Provide details to maintain current one-line electrical diagrams, feeder circuit, switches and transformer information.
•Maintain maintenance and operation documentation electronically.
•Perform effective method for repairs and correcting deficiencies in a timely manner.
•Assist or respond to after-hour call outs.
•Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), NFPA 70e requirements, standards of workmanship and safety.
•Remain current on best practices and recommend change to operating procedures, new equipment and related systems.
•Must be able to work in confined spaces such as manhole, tunnels, or trenches.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
