Adjunct Faculty - High School Equivalency (GED)
Part-time Adjunct Faculty
Aurora Downtown Campus
Teach Adult Basic and Adult Secondary Education classes in math, reading, science, or social studies. Classes are designed to prepare students to pass the Illinois High School Equivalency Exam (GED). Instructors will provide educational activities within the scope of a developed curriculum that assist students in achieving their goals. The use of multiple teaching strategies to serve the diverse needs of adult learners is expected.
Responsibilities Include:
Deliver instruction and conduct assigned classes.
Prepare lessons and syllabus based on approved curriculum and syllabus template.
Ensure student enrollment, attendance, and grades are submitted in a timely manner.
Work with Transition Advisors to insure student persistence and transition.
Complete New Teacher Orientation.
Fulfill State mandated 12 hours of Adult Education Professional Development per fiscal year.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Math, or related field.
Strong technology skills.
Experience working with diverse non-traditional Adult Learners.
Preferred Qualification:
Master's degree in Adult Education or related field.
ICCB Adult Education Standards Certification or STAR (Reading Specialist) training.
Understanding of Canvas, DAISI, I-pathways, Reading Plus.
