Advertised Job Summary:This Research Associate will coordinate and manage projects evaluating school improvement and understanding needs and priorities within the field of education, particularly early childhood education. The Research Associate will plan and conduct a variety of research tasks associated with the evaluation plans, including data collection, analysis, and reporting. The Research Associate will coordinate the writing of evaluation summaries and annual reports based on data collection and analysis. In addition, the Research Associate will assist faculty members in organizing, managing, and developing the work of graduate students.
This is a temporary, research grant-funded position with full benefits. The position may be extended beyond the grant period if funds are available. This position is established in support of expanded research activities.
Requires a master’s degree in a social science field, and at least two years of work experience in research, evaluation, or program planning; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have experience using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to applicants with familiarity with current education issues in South Carolina and experience with evaluation/research of school improvement strategies and understanding needs/priorities of stakeholders. Preference will also be given to applicants with one or more of the following qualifications: experience with statistical analysis software, such as SPSS, SAS, or R; experience with qualitative analysis software; experience with web-based data collection and analysis; experience creating user-friendly graphic displays and visual reports
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Must be detail oriented, organized, and possess the ability to work independently and on teams. Must have willingness to learn new approaches and applications. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills. Strong time management skills and the ability to plan tasks and adhere to schedules is required.
