The Counselor Education Program in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a temporary Clinical Assistant Professor position in Counselor Education with preferred expertise in clinical mental health counseling or marriage, couples, and family counseling. This is a full-time 9-month temporary faculty position that is reappointed annually. The anticipated start date for the successful applicant is August 2021.

Responsibilities include:
The successful applicant will: (1) teach core and specialty courses in the entry-level programs and doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision; (2) provide service and leadership in the Counselor Education program; (4) advise entry-level students and serve on doctoral dissertation committees; (5) maintain active participation in counseling professional organizations through service and scholarly presentations; and (6) serve on program, department, college, and university committees.


Candidates should have: (1) an earned doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program (current counselor educators with other doctoral training and at least one year of experience working in a Counselor Education program prior to 2013 will be considered); (2) licensed or license-eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina; (3) significant clinical experience; (4) evidence of effective teaching and clinical supervision in Counselor Education; and (5) demonstrated experience and commitment to diversity, working with diverse populations, and anti-racist counselor training.
