Position Summary:The Division of Accounting, Finance, MIS, and Economics in the College of Business at Governors State University seeks applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics beginning in August 2021.
The successful candidate will be academically qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Economics with a preference for candidates with teaching experience or expertise in International Economics, Development, and Macroeconomics.
We seek candidates with outstanding teaching skills, interest in non-traditional and diverse student populations, ability or interest in teaching high quality remote or online courses, a collegial approach to working with colleagues, interest in developing curriculum, evidence or a potential of for distinguished scholarship consistent with tenure-track and AACSB expectations for Scholarly Academic faculty, and evidence or potential for substantive professional and university service.
Governors State University (GSU) was founded in 1969, originally as an upper-division institution with a primary focus of serving community college graduates pursuing baccalaureate degrees. During the five intervening decades, GSU has grown to become the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago’s south suburban area, serving approximately 6,000 students annually in 85 different bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and certificate programs. Minimum Qualifications:- PhD in Economics, ABD in the final stages of completion will be considered.
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses from principles of economics to advanced upper division coursework and graduate courses in Economics, including to courses in international economics, development, and macroeconomics.
- Ability to write and publish in professional or academic journals.
- Interest in developing and teaching online courses.
- Applicant must meet AACSB standards for scholarship as “Scholarly Academic (SA)”.
