Job Title:

Program Director for LSAMP

Job Summary:

Miami University invites applications for the position of Program Director of LSAMP. The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation is a federally funded program to support underrepresented minority students majoring in science, engineering, technology and mathematics. This position serves as site coordinator for LSAMP activities at Miami University, including student recruitment, student events and programming, and participant records keeping. The position will report directly to the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging in the College of Arts & Science.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Program Management:

  • Serve as point of contact with the Ohio LSAMP Alliance, including dissemination of information, responding to communications, and overseeing submission of enrollment forms, quarterly reports, supplemental invoice forms, and other data.
  • Maintain all program recruitment, enrollment, and participation records.
  • Process participation data and materials for stipend payments, reimbursements, and student hiring and timesheets.
  • Serve on the institutional LSAMP advisory board and help set agenda for advisory board meetings.

Student events and programming:

  • Organize and oversee monthly student development sessions, weekly evening study sessions, and four-day Early Arrival Program in August.
  • Create and mark participant assignments to aid and assess participant knowledge of student opportunities and campus resources.
  • Coordinate LSAMP academic student support, peer mentoring, programming, recruitment, and student development efforts with other university offices.

Communications:

  • Maintain Facebook account, website and Canvas site.
  • Answer parent/student questions about the LSAMP program by email, phone and in person.
  • Identify, announce and facilitate opportunities for student participation and placement in internships, research, outreach, career planning, graduate school preparation, conferences, and other University programming.
  • Create and coordinate communications to feature participant successes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM discipline.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations. Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
