Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:Plan, design, implement, and support stable and secure IT systems, voice, and data network infrastructure. ITS Enterprise Technology Infrastructure supports more than 20,000 students, faculty, and staff by administering the campus enterprise server infrastructure, local and wide area network infrastructure, campus fiber optic and copper cable plant, campus telecommunications closets, and service operations center. All of the core technology services offered by the University rely on the successful design, development, implementation, growth, maintenance, and monitoring of the campus systems and networks infrastructure.
Position Summary:The primary purpose of this position is to provide Azure systems engineering for University systems, provide strategic direction of design, build, and management of the azure cloud environment, and configuration management utilizing SCCM and Ansible. This position provides tier-three support for the supported systems, services, and solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:Mid-career with Masters and 1-2 yrs experience
Or Bachelors and 2-4 yrs experience
Or Equivalent combination of education/experience

Key Responsibility:Cloud Engineer Systems Design
Essential Tasks:This position is responsible for designing new cloud solutions. In this role, they:
-Work with IT architects to ensure that new solutions to be deployed in cloud infrastructure.
-Design cloud solutions that meet client goals.
-Document new systems. Provide any needed system diagrams.
-Provide IT architecture consulting for clients.

Key Responsibility:Systems Design
Essential Tasks:This position is responsible for the design and implementation of Enterprise Systems. In this role, they:
-Work with IT architects to ensure that IT systems meet the needs of UNCG.
-Design IT cloud and on-prem systems for UNCG.
-Work with other service managers and service owners on IT systems implementations for their respective services.
-Adhere to IT systems standards as defined by senior ITS leadership. Industry best practices and standard processes for IT systems should be followed.
-Provide tier three support for IT systems.

Key Responsibility:Configuration Management Engineer
Essential Tasks:This position is responsible for designing and maintaining configuration management (CM) for clients and servers. In this role, they:
-Work with systems architects to define the goals for CM. This position would implement changes as defined by these goals.
-Create policies that manage clients and servers. Where appropriate, test the policies in a development or validation environment before applying the policy in production.
-Design, implement and maintain Configuration Management System.
-Adhere to CM standards as defined by the system’s architects. Industry best practices and standard processes for CM should be followed.
-Ensure operating system update compliance on clients and servers.
-Follow release cycles as defined by the system’s architects.
