Position Summary:

The Dermatology Admitting Worker (AW) is a critical front line position in a busy practice in south Orange county. The AW is the first contact of our patients when they come in the door, so their individual professionalism, friendly and accommodating personality is essential to the success of the Patient Experience. The AW provides customer service to all ages of patients who seek and obtain medical or cosmetic services from our internationally known doctors. The candidate is instrumental in facilitating patient flow in the clinic. The AW works with nursing and MDs to manage the day to day functions. The Dermatology Center focuses on patient care and safety, and the AW assists in maintaining these qualities. HIPAA is a primary concern of all staff, and must be respected and is expected to be followed. Using multiple UC Irvine electronic and paper registration systems the candidate greets patients, determines insurance eligibility, schedules, reschedules, cancels and confirms appointments, procedures/surgeries, follow through on messages to MDs and back to patient when directed. The candidate is responsible for all insurance co-pay and deductible, as well as self-pay collections. They must have proven cash handling skills with accurate daily reconciliation. They apply appropriate credit to accounts, review patient issues with billing coordinator and supervisor when necessary.

$19.65 - $21.67

Required:

Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of general clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent customer service skills Excellent customer service skills. Consistently presents a professional demeanor. Communicates clearly in written and verbal methods. Demonstrates cash handling and daily reconciliations skills. Experience in a hospital in-patient or out-patient medical office setting. Experience registering patients and filing. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare insurance. Must demonstrate positive oral and written communication skills. Experience in computer data entry and inquiry. Experience in medical terminology (preferably dermatology). Experience in scheduling and confirming patient appointments. Experience/knowledge in obtaining insurance authorizations. Experience in scheduling patients for special procedures.

Preferred:

Experience in a fast pace clinic setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience in computer software programs such as MS Office. Basic medical terminology. Medical assistant Certification.

Special Conditions Required:

This is a full time position that requires attention to attendance. Candidates must understand that the practice successful patient care hinges on all staff adhering to their work schedules. This position is critical to all closing procedures. The Dermatology Center is located at 1 Medical Plaza Drive, Irvine , CA 92697 (Gottschalk Medical Plaza).
