Lecturer - Department of Plant and Microbial Biology - Rausser College of Natural Resources

The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology in the Rausser College of Natural Resources at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in the area of plant and microbial biology should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the department. Appointments are typically part-time and may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching. General Duties: We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach lecture, seminar, and/or laboratory courses in plant and microbial biology, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

Basic Qualifications (at the time of application): must have an advanced degree or be enrolled in an advanced degree program at time of application.

Additional Qualifications (by the start date): advanced degree required by the start date of the job

Preferred Qualifications: documented experience in teaching one of the biological sciences at the college level is strongly preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
