JOB PURPOSE:
Stanford University's Office of Development seeks a dynamic and collaborative administrative professional to support fundraising programs and activities for the University Principal Gifts (UPG) team. The Principal Gifts teams work on gifts of $10M+. The Development Coordinator will support and enhance the success of principal gift development efforts for presidential and university priorities. This person will work in a fast-paced environment with frontline fundraising staff, development colleagues across all functions, faculty, and volunteers to assist efforts to build relationships resulting in raising transformative philanthropy.

CORE DUTIES:
  • Provide project and administrative support; respond to a wide variety of questions as needed.
  • Partner with Principal Gift officers on their portfolio management of assigned prospects to cultivate, solicit, and steward their support.
  • Assist in preparing donor visit briefings for senior academic leadership including the University President and others.
  • Assist in preparing materials, including agendas, presentation decks, and background materials.
  • Assist in crafting tailored stewardship demonstrating the impact of philanthropic support.
  • Assist in research activities to inform strategies for prospects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of events and donor cultivation.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of volunteer-led initiatives of the principal gifts team.
  • Retrieve donor and prospect information, update records, and generate reports using Salesforce, Stanford's external relations database, and financial reporting systems.
  • Perform PowerPoint, Google Sheets and/or Excel functions to synthesize and present data; create charts, graphs, and presentations.
  • Track and prepare detailed reports on the principal gifts program.
  • Review and track funds, and report on use of gifts, as assigned.
  • Process gifts using Stanford's Oracle-based Gift Transmittal system, troubleshoot gift and payment issues, and ensure accurate donor record keeping.
  • Build a network of relevant contacts; stay informed on current university initiatives.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education & Experience:
    Bachelor's degree and one-year relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Demonstrated ability with Google Drive and Microsoft Office suite. Strength in PowerPoint and excel is especially helpful.
    • Knowledge of database systems, Salesforce proficiency is helpful.
    • Demonstrated ability to be highly proactive and organized, taking initiative and ownership of projects, and prioritizing own work.
    • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of people.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external constituents.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
    • Exercise discretion in working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
    • A strong desire to work in a development environment and an interest in philanthropy.


    Certifications and Licenses:
    • Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver's License.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
    • Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, sit, and use a telephone, stand/walk.
    • Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license.

    • May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends
