Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Information Science

The Department of Information Science in the Graduate School of Education, University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (SUNY) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2021. We seek an outstanding scholar with an established research agenda, potential to acquire external funding, and ability to effectively teach online in our master’s and Ph.D. programs. We are committed to creating an equitable, diverse, inclusive and just community of faculty, students, staff and administrators where all feel welcomed, included, supported, empowered and have equal access to supports, services and opportunities that ensure learning and success.  Qualified candidates will be expected to maintain an active and productive research agenda commensurate with Research 1 tenure-track faculty appointments, seek external grant funding, teach two courses per semester at the graduate level in the Information Science master’s and PHD programs, advise Information Science master’s and PHD students, and participate in professional activities and serving on department, school, and University committees. 

Minimum Requirements:

A doctorate degree in Information Science or related field at the time of appointment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Established research agenda in at least one of the following areas, but not limited to: data curation; data science; user experience; user-centered design; or information management, visualization, and analytics
  • Strong potential for acquiring external funding
  • Published research or scholarship
  • Online teaching experience or interest
  • Experience or interest in multidisciplinary collaboration
