Director of the Drew University Career Center *UPDATED*
Drew University seeks an innovative and collaborative individual to serve as Director of the Career Center. The Career Center facilitates holistic career and professional development for current students and alums. The Director’s work will support the goals and objectives of Launch, Drew’s signature educational experience that ensures that students graduate connected, confident in knowing their purpose, and capable of entering today's workforce. The work of the Center should be guided by the principles of equity and accessibility, and the Director will need to champion these values among the Center staff and in all of the Center’s activities. This is a full-time, exempt position, and the successful candidate will report to the Associate Provost for Immersive Learning & Career Design.
The Director will collaboratively develop a vision for the Career Center that aligns with the outcomes of Launch and provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Center’s essential work. This includes engagement with internal and external partners (including outreach to and collaboration with employers), development of the Center’s student-focused programming and career development curricula, and creation and promotion of immersive learning experiences. The Director will also create a robust virtual presence for the Career Center that leverages technology to support students’ career readiness and will continue to build systems for employer relations, comprehensive community involvement, and scalable student engagement. The operational work of the Center will also be overseen by the Director (e.g., staff and budget management, systematic collection and analysis of engagement and outcome data).
Bachelor’s degree required; master's or Ph.D. preferred.
At least 5 years experience and demonstrable success in career services, employer relations, facilitation of career or transferable skill development, or workforce initiatives.
Knowledge and understanding of best practices in university career services, student career and professional development, career readiness, and career opportunities for students in diverse programs and majors.
The desire and ability to engage and work with a broad range of internal (e.g., students, Deans, faculty, and staff) and external (e.g., employers, alums, and other community members) constituents to meet the Center’s strategic objectives.
Appreciation for and experience with technology that provides users with comprehensive access to virtual networking and experiential opportunities, and leverages innovative tools for effective services and collaboration.
Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral, written, and presentation), listening, and analytical skills.
Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex projects collaboratively and plan strategically.
The ability to work with diverse constituents and a commitment to an environment that considers diversity, inclusion and equity an asset to decision-making and performance.
