Position Summary:

The Arquin Slide Collection Digitization Project: Preserving the Heritage of Latin America seeks a graduate student to join the project as a Graduate Student Assistant. The project, led by two professors from the Department of Visual Arts and Art History, is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The goal is to makeover 20,000 slides of Latin American and other countries available to the public. The Graduate Student Assistant will contribute to research and other tasks related to the project.

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Create metadata to describe the digitized materials following project guidelines.
  • Research the materials and create exhibits for the public website.
  • Contribute to the project's social media and dissemination efforts.
  • Support the project Co-Directors with additional project needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree-seeking graduate student with a minimum of five credit hours (or nine if international) and a minimum 3.0 GPA required.

Must be available to work 10 hours per week.

Must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle repetitive tasks.

Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and basic database software applications required.

Interest in photographic collections and experience working with digital assets and digital technologies preferred.

Knowledge of metadata standards (Dublin Core, MODS, etc.) preferred.

Knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.

$15.00 per hour
