Marian University seeks qualified applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Track and Field/Cross Country (TF/CC) Coach.The successful candidate will promote Marian University’s Catholic mission and identity by overseeing the recruitment and selection of student athletes for the TF/CC program as well as leading practices, attending meets, and monitoring eligibility status for all athletes within the department (further responsibilities listed below).The successful candidate will manage a designated recruiting territory for track and field as well as cross country.

Responsibilities:

Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services. Ensure compliance with NAIA recruiting rules and regulations Initiate the process for determining academic eligibility with TF/CC athletes by department and PLAYNAIA standards Schedule and conduct regular practice sessions in and out of season while complying with relevant NAIA rules and regulations Oversee conditioning and training of team members in conjunction with Head Athletic Trainer to fully prepare students for competitions Enforce university and NAIA policies and procedures Recommend improvements and modifications to the program Promote academic progress of students through both grades and attendance Develop a competitive event schedule, in conjunction with the Athletic Director and Head Cross/Track Coach that fits travel budget as well as Marian and NAIA rules and regulations Oversee selection, purchase, fitting, and maintenance of equipment Conduct fundraising activities and assists with approved fundraising activities as requested Develop and publishes TF/CC team rules regarding appearance, practice, class attendance, punctuality, etc. with approval of Head TF/CC coach and Athletic Director (when appropriate) Promote the philosophy and values of the Athletic Program and Marian University Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree Prior Coaching experience Demonstrated knowledge of rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility, and related functions
