Summary of Duties:

The Associate Athletic Director of Compliance position serves in a leadership capacity within the Athletic Department and is responsible for the overall quality, integrity and comprehensive nature of the compliance program. This position is responsible for building a culture of compliance within the athletic department, and will strategically plan, manage and implement all aspects of NCAA, conference and institutional compliance and compliance monitoring. This position will manage and coordinate the day-to-day administration of athletic compliance in support of the Athletic Department, Washington State University and in alignment with NCAA, PAC-12 Conference and Washington State University bylaws, rules and regulations. The Associate Athletic Director will develop policies and procedures to ensure institutional control and regularly monitor compliance systems pertaining to recruitment, admissions, eligibility, financial aid, housing, the general welfare of student-athletes and any other duties assigned. This position will oversee and monitor all recruiting activities performed by coaches and investigate all alleged violations of NCAA and PAC-12 conference rules and regulations that govern WSU Athletics. This position is in charge of interpreting and applying complicated rules to a broad range of situations and producing a comprehensive rules education and training program for athletics department personnel, student-athletes, University and community. This position will regularly inform the athletic department on new legislation initiatives and the impact in different areas within the athletic department. In addition to this position overseeing all aspects of compliance, it will be the liaison for the WSU Office of Student Affairs and assist the department in oversight of Title IX and gender equity efforts.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in sports administration, administrative, business, liberal arts, social sciences, or related discipline plus four (4) years of demonstrated experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified for the particular unit, including one (1) year of supervisory responsibility. Any combination of relevant experience and education may be substituted for the required education. Extensive knowledge of rules and regulations established by governing associations.

Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complicated rules.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience to demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills in an Athletic Department setting working with students, coaches, administrators and university staff in a broad range of situations.

Three (3) years of supervisory experience with full-time staff.

Advanced degree in a related field.

Demonstrated work experience with or at the NCAA.

Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, LSDBI, Compliance Assistant Software and NCAA Applications.

Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups

Demonstrated ability to work independently under pressure and the ability to meet deadlines.

Demonstrated work-related experiences that require strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
