Position Summary:The UC Humanities Research Institute is a systemwide organization for all 10 campuses in the University of California system. UCHRI facilitates experimental, interdisciplinary humanities scholarship through partnerships, research initiatives, and competitive grants. Under the supervision of both the Director and the Manager of the UC Humanities Research Institute, the Information Systems Analyst will provide Systems/IT support to staff and visiting scholars at the Institute: 10 Institute staff, Residential Research Group Fellows in Spring 2021 and Fall 2021 (on site and/or virtual), members of Advisory Committee and participants in other grant selection meetings, participants of UCHRI workshops and public events. The Information Systems Analyst will provide virtual (via Zoom, email, slack) and/or in-person technical support at on-site or off-site locations (contingent on Covid-19 guidelines in place at time of employment). In consultation with Director and UCHRI's Research Programs team, position will provide programming assistance with UCHRI's website, including online publishing platform, Foundry. Information Systems Analyst will also be responsible for technical support for events via meeting platforms, including but not limited to Zoom, and for in-person events (contingent on Covid-19 guidelines).

Required:Minimum 1 year IT work experience in office environment.Bachelor's degree in Informatics or Computer Science and / or equivalent experience / training.Basic knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Basic knowledge of computer security best practices and policies. Ability to put knowledge into practice. Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. Basic understanding of data management operations and database administration. Basic knowledge of several areas of IT. Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot basic problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Basic understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Preferred:Experience in the field of Apple/Macintosh hardware and software. Experience with WordPress. Knowledge of (but not limited to) MacOS X, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and broad range of hardware devices (iPhone, iPad, iOS, Android, printers, etc.) Special Conditions RequiredContract appointment for one-year, at 100% time, with potential for renewal, contingent on budget. Contingent on Covid-19 guidelines, occasional travel in California may be required. As driving may be required for this position, must possess a valid California Driver's License or ability to obtain one as required by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Contingent on Covid-19 guidelines, occasional work in evenings or on weekends for tech support of events.
