The Center for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST Center) is recruiting postdoctoral researchers to develop a wearable sensor platform for correlated sensing of health and environment for exposure related respiratory health applications (e.g. asthma) and other health problems. ASSIST Center is a National Science Foundation sponsored Nanosystems Engineering Research Center (NERC). The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team of academic and industry researchers.Essential Job Duties:
The Assistant Research Professor is expected to help lead research activities under ASSIST Center to ensure its self-sufficiency beyond its NSF funding timeline. This involves several aspects: integration and prototyping of various systems coming out of the Center, building a prototyping facility and managing its operations, building collaborations with external entities, grant writing to further ASSIST mission and providing student mentoring. All these are critical as the Center enters its Year 9 funding from NSF and seeks to position itself for success after it finishes its 10th year of NSF funding. The Assistant Research Professor is an experienced research professional who conducts original research and serves as a senior collaborator on projects assigned under the guidance of the principal investigator. The Assistant Research Professor will oversee the prototyping and integration of various systems in the ASSIST Center. This position will also be responsible for writing publications, assisting with proposals, writing reports as required by the project sponsor, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and presents findings in conferences and annual reviews.
This position will also be responsible for building collaborations and partnerships that drive the ASSIST mission. This Assistant Research Professor will be performing research largely in The National Science Foundation Nanosystems Engineering Research Center for Advanced Self- Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST) in support of already funded projects as
well as projects that will be funded in the future as directed by Principal Investigator(s). Candidate must be also to support the research activities of the Principal Investigator(s) in the ASSIST Center.
The Candidate will:
• integrate variety of systems and testbeds in support of the ASSIST mission. This will involve technical expertise in all aspects of systems integration including circuit components, flexible boards, programming, embedded hardware systems and coding, and user interfaces.
• Have the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Must be efficient at managing project timelines and communicating these to the Center leadership.
• Develop and manage a rapid prototyping facility in support of system integration
Increase the technology readiness levels of prototypes to a level that is suitable for engagement with industry and DoD etc. Also increase the scalability of these systems.
• Assist PI by developing strategies for research and helping to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Write and publish high quality research papers related to research results. Present research results to professional organizations and sponsors.
• Help expand research opportunities by assisting to develop research proposals and research interactions.

PhD in Electrical Engineering (with a focus on bioinstrumentation) or in Biomedical EngineeringOther Required Qualifications:
