Job Summary Serving within the Research Faculty of The Institute, Startup Catalysts directly support the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. Primarily these 50% part-time roles provide entrepreneurial incubation and acceleration services to Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) companies in strategic areas that foster their development and encourage growth. ATDC recruits for part-time Startup Catalysts on a continuous basis. As of the date of this posting ATDC has a specific need to recruit incumbents who specialize in supporting Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and under-represented entrepreneurs and innovators. Incumbents in this role will serve the SE Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Inner City Innovation Hub (ICIH) under the [email protected] program. This will include (overall) recruiting MBE entrepreneurs and startups; marketing the [email protected] Program; and assisting with the development of the ICIH.
- Engage in continuous outreach with the MBE communityBuild a suite of practices which helps ATDC’s MBE Vertical members be successfulAdvise [email protected] entrepreneurs and member companies in strategic areas (business operations, fundraising, marketing, etc.) that foster their development and encourage growth.Manage and cultivate relationships within the Minority Business Enterprise community, including mentors, investors, prospective business advisors/partners, CEOs, and community innovation leaders to promote market outreach and business development.Manage and cultivate ATDC relationships with mentors, investors, prospective business advisors/partners, CEOs, and community technology leaders to promote market outreach and business development.Support the creation of blended spaces where MBEs, startups, and entrepreneurs can be part of a larger shared communitySupport vision and mission of the SE MBDA Inner City Innovation Hub with research, program concepts and the implementation of program goals and metrics.Serve as an advocate for awards, conferences, and recognition for MBEs.Identify and/or develop resources to cultivate and assist member [email protected] companies and applicants (including delivery of entrepreneurial programs/events that promote business development & growth).Support MBEs with research initiatives and technology transfer, digital innovation, use of machine learning and artificial intelligence.Spawn future mentors and success stories for the Inner-City Innovation HubCapture the journey of each entrepreneur, startup, or business enterprise as they participate in the Vertical.Evaluate and assess business potential of [email protected] applicant companies and provide recommendations for membership.Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Business owner or founder of a technology startup or early stage startup experience;Experience operating/leading programs for under-represented innovators, entrepreneurs or business owners;Leadership experience managing an incubator, accelerator or company; Leadership or supporting role in securing multiple rounds of financing (angel or venture); Demonstrated record in developing and/or implementing program concepts, goals and metrics;Multi-lingual proficiency, especially Spanish speaking fluencyStrong familiarity with the Atlanta business community
The primary office location can/may be in the metro-Atlanta area however, incumbent in this position may be expected to travel and remain flexible to on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client schedules and/or project requirements).Contact Information
