Department Description:

The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training and outreach.

The LCCC Office of Genomics Research (OGR) provides comprehensive support for research investigators throughout the translational genomics pipeline. These investigators have multi-million dollar projects that require coordination between clinical trials from groups across the U.S. and within UNC, and management of sample collection and processing/provision of translational results. The office works closely with the Translational Genomics Laboratory (TGL) which performs and supports preclinical and translational research in cancer pathology, genomics and biology and the High Throughput Sequencing Facility.

Position Description:

This Genomics Research Coordinator (GRC) position has dual primary roles. The first is to coordinate cancer research sample intake and to work with research teams to track samples through processing at LCCC. The second is to provide administrative support for genomic data sharing by working with investigators and other staff to complete and submit paperwork for national databases. The position works independently and as part of a team of coordinators to support multiple projects at LCCC.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Experience in clinical research or biospecimen storage and/or tracking. Experience in genomics. Demonstrated skills in the use of electronic databases. Proficiency with MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of experience in clinical research or biospecimen storage and/or tracking experience in biospecimen management via Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Experience in the use of tissue banking databases, LIMS databases or other similar management databases. Experience in a genomics laboratory. Experience with oncology data management.
