Within the Supported Employment program, the Employment Peer Mentor (EPM) utilizes their own employment experiences to offer individuals assistance in obtaining and maintaining the level and type of employment that is consistent with their employment goals.
The EPM plays a key role in supporting clients to obtain and maintain employment in an effort to promote recovery within the client’s life. They do not have a caseload like other team members, but they can support any and all individuals enrolled in the program as needed. The major activities for this position including:
- Providing information to allow individuals to make informed decisions about employment and supporting the decisions the individuals make regarding their employment, including identifying and overcoming internal and external barriers to employment, building social skills and connections in the community that will enhance job attainment and tenure.
- Providing rehabilitation, recovery and peer support services.
- Functioning as an integral Supported Employment (SE) team member.
- Promoting the recovery culture of the organization.
- Contributing to the fiscal, clinical and administrative integrity of the SE service.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must have attended and successfully completed an approved Peer Support Specialist training curriculum and have a valid certificate from that training.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a mental health setting. Completion of an additional 20 hours of training (with valid certificates verifying attendance and participation) is desired.Required Licenses/Certifications:
