The Associate Chair for Administration in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department yields extensive, consequential and independent authority in the Chair’s Office. (S)he provides innovative leadership in the following areas:
1) policy development;
2) designing initiatives and implementing systems for financial planning – and management of strategic planning, marketing, operations, sponsored research and human resources;
3) oversight of educational programs and curriculum;
4) design and delivery of information systems;
5) strategic leadership and governance; and
6) professional and ethical responsibilities on behalf of the Department Chair.
Often acting as the sole chief administrator, in the Chair’s absence, the Associate Chair for Administration makes independent decisions and leads new initiatives to achieve optimal levels of performance throughout the department.Educational Requirements:
A master’s degree in business administration, health care administration or a related field is required.Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will have five to ten years’ experience as a senior manager in a medical practice or other health care organization, ideally in an academic medical center.
The Associate Chair for Administration must possess superior verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate excellent interpersonal behaviors and be able to inspire confidence in his or her reasoning and decision-making.
