Description of Work:

The Research Data Programmer’s primary two tasks will be:
R Shiny Dashboard Programming
We are seeking a programmer with R coding experience to assist in the development and refinement of a live study dashboard. The programmer(s) will receive a feature request from research team members and implement them using the R shiny package. Obtaining data to build the dashboards from the various sources will also require python coding skills. We want the data to be visually accessible and impactful, so the successful applicant will need to have experience with data visualization or be able to learn it quickly.

SAS Programming for Data Quality Control
Medical record data collected at these sites can be messy. A data collector in the field may record a medical diagnosis that is not supported by laboratory results. Two forms may be submitted for the same patient. We are seeking a SAS programmer who will work with our team of analysts to develop a code base that identifies and flags inconsistencies in the collected data. We already have a list of these “data queries” but new ones will arise as the studies progress. The SAS code will be run periodically (either daily, weekly or monthly, depending on the query), and will write each issue to an Excel spreadsheet that can be transmitted to the relevant site for resolution.

Other Specific Tasks May Include:
• Developing, maintaining, and implementing documented code to rectify data quality issues, as guided by each sites’ feedback

• Developing routine workflows to document, organize and curate multi-terabyte data collection using a programming language such as Python, C# or C++

• Building metadata indexing databases in a SQL-based relational database

• Manipulating, extracting and converting a variety of data types from multiple inbound data streams. Common types include DICOM medical imaging, JSON and XML

• Extracting and combining relevant data collected from ultrasound equipment, associated biometry, clinical datasets, electronic data collection forms and patient sensors

• Maintaining an adequate data trail to monitor and review these processes

• Communicating issues discovered by the data quality inquiries to international study sites on a regular, timely basis

• Collaborating with study directors and data managers to continuously improve all aspects of process design, documentation and preservation of research data.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Experience with R, SAS, and other programming skills necessary to complete the work.
