Position Summary:

The Department of Health Behavior, in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, invites applications for a fixed-term faculty position as a Research Assistant Professor. The primary focus of this position is alcohol research to reduce high-risk drinking in youth and young adults, with a particular focus on development of interventions. Teaching experience, particularly with undergraduate behavioral science classes focused on population health, is a strength. The Department is developing a new Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health (BSPH) program in Community and Global Health and will expand offerings of undergraduate courses in the coming years. Applicants should have external research funding that will support them for at least two years from the start of their position. This position will primarily focus on research and scholarly productivity with contributions to the teaching and mentoring of students and service in the department.

Educational Requirements:

The applicant must have a doctorate (PhD, ScD, or DrPH) in public health, public policy, social and behavioral science, or related field.

Qualifications and Experience:

Applicants must have a strong publication record in alcohol research, current external funding, and evidence for strong potential to develop a research program supported by external funding.

Teaching experience, particularly with undergraduate behavioral science classes focused on population health, is a strength.
