Department Description:

The Institute for Global Health & Infectious Diseases (IGHID) is designed to develop ongoing clinical, educational, and research into the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. This Fellowship and Training Programs have the potential to work in 21 countries, throughout the state, and across campus, IGHID goals include:
•Coordinating basic and applied research in infectious diseases and fostering collaboration among other investigators and researchers.
•Coordinating outreach activities with UNC’s School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology, and appropriate State agencies.
•Improving clinical care in infectious disease, including activities related to the management of HIV and other infectious diseases; activities related to emerging pathogens, international health, and clinical outreach.
•Infectious disease prevention activities, including a focus on vaccine development and vaccination practices.

Position Description:

The primary purpose is to focus on both pre-award and post-award grant administration for the Ryan White (RW) and State contracts as well as NIH funded projects housed in the Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases. Pre-award tasks include, but are not limited to: assisting with developing budgets and budget justification; proofing to ensure accuracy for Ryan White Parts B, C, and D, and state contracts and NIH funded projects as well as reviewing a proposal for consistency, accuracy, and completeness; advising Pl on requirements in preparing proposals for submissions and entering and uploading the information in Ramses and HRSA’s Electronic Handbook. Post-award Items include: monthly reconciliations with reporting to Project Management team and Pl; accounts payable and receivable; budget revisions, realignments and budget loads; assisting in the calculation of RW Program Income/Maintenance of Effort; oversite of FTE allocation across all projects including clinical, processing and tracking of all invoices; preparation of time and effort certification for RW grants; scheduling of RW budget meetings with Pl’s and managers; creations and submissions of RWC Allocation and Expenditure reports in HRSA’s Electronic Handbook; acting as the point person for communication between NC DHHS RW8 project consultants and OSR; tracking and review of MERs/CERs; ordering supplies and 3408 expenditure tracking.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

The employee must have substantial knowledge of accounting principles and cost account standards, the rules and regulations governing the processing of financial transactions, and be experienced in the use of computer-based financial systems, including those used by UNC-CH – Peoplesoft and lnfoPorte. Must have experience working with state contracts and/or state funding. Must demonstrate an understanding of clinical accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

International and Domestic grant accounting experience.
Ramses experience.
