The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is one of 12 clinical academic departments, in addition to 8 basic science academic departments, in the Brody School of Medicine.

The department currently is comprised of three divisions, General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, and Reproductive Endocrinology, and works closely with Gynecology Oncology through our affiliated hospital, Vidant Medical Center.

Vidant is a 974 bed Level I Trauma Center with a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a comprehensive cancer center.
Together we serve eastern North Carolina. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is also dedicated to providing accredited education to residents, medical students, and other learners.

The faculty teach twenty Obstetrics and Gynecology residents and all rotating third and fourth-year medical students. Additionally, the faculty teach Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine residents, nurse midwifery students, and physician assistant students.

Faculty mentor residents and students in ongoing research while also pursuing their own research endeavors.
