Postdoctoral Research Associate in Aquatic Biogeochemistry, University of Florida

The Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment (ESSIE) at the University of Florida has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral associate in the field of aquatic biogeochemistry. The position requires a PhD in Biogeochemistry, Oceanography, Marine Science, Aquatic Chemistry, Marine Organic Geochemistry, or a similar field obtained within the last 3 years.

The successful applicant will join an exciting new multi-disciplinary project funded by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to study phosphorus and carbon cycling dynamics within stormwater treatment areas in the Everglades. The successful applicant will also be encouraged to explore new research endeavors in areas of aquatic biogeochemistry outside of this project. Highly motivated candidates with strong analytical skills in chemical biomarker techniques are encouraged to apply and to incorporate their interests into the project. A demonstrated record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals is required. Experience with fluorescence spectroscopy is looked upon favorably.

The post-doc will work under the direction of Drs. Elise Morrison, with close collaboration with Dr. Thomas S. Bianchi (Department of Geological sciences), and Dr. Todd Z. Osborne (Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience). The position is for 20 months, beginning as early as January 2021 with the possibility of an additional 12 month renewal, pending funding.
