OPS Laboratory AssistantJob Description:
40% - In conjunction with the Med Tech Supervisor, this position will participate in the development and implementation of new clinical molecular diagnostic testing procedures and clinical trial tests. Illumina next generation sequencing, ABI 3500 genetic analyzer, pyrosequencing, real time qPCR, and other platforms/techniques are in use.
40% - Perform genetic testing: molecular oncology and pharmacogenomic testing; infectious disease testing.
5% - Participate in the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory maintenance of all procedures and documents required as part of good laboratory practice including quality control and quality assurance.
5% - General lab maintenance, procedures essential manager, including ordering lab supplies and maintaining equipment/facility records.
10% - Miscellaneous laboratory duties (i.e., lab meetings and communications, SOP writing, etc.) necessary to complete previously described functions.Expected Salary:
Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in one of the specialty areas to which the position is allocated.Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate should have a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in biochemistry, biology, or a related field with at least 5 years of experience with molecular biology techniques in a research or clinical laboratory. The candidate should be either licensed as a Medical Technologist or is expected to become temporarily licensed in Molecular Pathology based on eligibility under Chapter 483, Part III, Florida Statutes.Special Instructions to Applicants:
