Position Summary:

The Weiss Lab at The University of Georgia’s Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (www.ccrc.uga.edu) is looking for a motivated technician to work on a research project focusing on the regulation of glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis in human diseases. Successful applicants will assist in starting a new research program and will receive multidisciplinary training in CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, chemical biology, and structural analysis of glycans. Technician responsibilities include mammalian tissue/cell culture, establishing stable engineered cell lines, and lab setup/management. The position involves the application of CRISPR/Cas9 technologies, high-throughput drug screening, and flow cytometry applications. The Technician will assist with these tasks after appropriate training. The position also involves preparation of writing reports, protocol optimization and some method development. Preference will be given to candidates who have hands-on experience with basic cellular and molecular biological techniques to perform tissue and sterile cell culture. Previous experience with CRISPR/Cas9 technologies and flow cytometry is preferred.
