Position Highlights:

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)–designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the State of Arizona.

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is seeking a Principle Research Administrator/Grants Writer to provide support to cancer research trainees and oversee development of cancer-focused scientific training grant and fellowship applications, including NIH K, F, and T32 applications. UACC is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the state of Arizona. The successful candidate will report to the UACC’s Associate Director for Training and Education Coordination. We seek a dedicated professional with strong writing, organizational and people skills who is enthusiastic and is able to take initiative. Experience with cancer-focused grants is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development of strategic goals and identify cancer research funding opportunities in the basic, prevention and clinical services.
  • Monitor, Analyze, synthesize and report on relevant funding opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with funding announcements and guidelines.
  • Communicate with staff at funding agencies, as needed, during the preparation of grant applications.
  • Assist with the writing, editing, proof reading and electronic submission of grant applications. Support the development of budget section.
  • Organize and manage grant submission timelines.
  • Provide proposal development support. Work collaboratively with trainees and faculty who are involved in preparing grant applications.
  • Deliver educational sessions and template to teach grant application skills and facilitate grant writing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required; OR a Master's degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Familiarity with federal funding mechanisms.
  • Experience in writing, supporting, and coordinating the development of grant applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Ph.D. in life sciences.•Demonstrated knowledge and expertise working in a clinical environment in a university setting and following university policies and procedures.•Experience in the instruction and education of inexperienced grant writers in the development of new grant applications.•Experience with NIH grant applications.
