Position Summary

Assists health care providers during examinations and treatments, records chief complaint; takes vital signs and records health information in EMR

Orders, updates, copies and files patient charts/medical records in order to ensure their availability for health care providers

Prepares equipment and supplies; cleans and stocks examination rooms and treatment areas

Maintains supply stock and orders accordingly

Completes and verifies forms

Schedules appointments; provides information; receives and routes calls and messages as required. Greets patients; registers and directs patient to the correct appointment areas by rooming patients.

Maintain all work buckets in EMR and resolves accordingly

Maintain physician master schedules/templates

Resolves missing slips to Central Billing Office

Reconciles and submits daily deposits to Accounting office

Obtains authorizations for referrals and procedures from insurance companies.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office setting or in a clinical setting performing routine health assessment tests; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience in the use word processing and database software, a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience. May require knowledge of electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems.

Requires certification as a medical assistant. CPR/BLS certified.

Work Hours

Work hours are typically 8:00am - 5:00pm, but may vary as necessary to accommodate clinic operations

Summary of Health Risks

Exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator and compliance with influenza policy. Covid precautions.
