Position Summary

The Communications Manager I, under the oversight of the Communications Manager II/S, develops marketing and advertising strategies to promote awareness and compliance of business procedures to campus stakeholders and increase sales for revenue generating functions. This position drafts content and layout for web, print materials, educational or promotional email campaigns, and social media platforms. Assists with maintenance and updates of internal and external e-commerce platforms, selecting and ordering products, providing technical and customer assistance, and merchandising in-store displays. Develops training or promotional videos and photographs. Represents the department at meetings or events, creates presentations, and conducts training webinars. Builds various surveys and reports findings. Performs other marketing and general administrative duties in support of departmental activities.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Journalism, Telecommunications, or Public Relations; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations, composing, editing and publication production, news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology; experience managing content for social media channels; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Work experience in UX for web, e-commerce management or advertising and marketing strategies, web content management systems, writing and editing, graphic design, web design, metrics related to social media platforms, SEO, Google Analytics
  • Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office applications
  • Working knowledge of accessibility
