Departmental Overview

Research, Teaching, and Learning (RTL) supports the teaching and research needs of Berkeley faculty, students, and academic staff by offering expert consulting, providing vetted tools and essential services, and advocating for its broad constituency and mission-focused portfolio with campus policy makers and vendors. The combination of enterprise teaching and research technology groups within RTL improves coordination across functions; provides a richer, more seamless experience for end users; and creates opportunities for innovation. RTL has dual reporting lines to the Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Education and the Office of the CIO.

Responsibilities

Office and Business Processes:
  • Reviews, analyzes, and implements business processes and procedures for the daily running of the RTL front office.
  • Participate, analyze and improve processes for the RTL Safety Committee insuring the implementation of campus policies with a focus on purchasing, preparing and distributing safety equipment.

Analysis and Business Process Management:
  • Gathers and assembles analytical and factual data on assigned problems and issues to prepare reports and / or analyses summarizing information on the assigned issues and commenting on other significance for internal or external constituents.
  • Provides recommendations and guidelines involving programs / initiatives.
  • Using subject matter knowledge, collects and prepares information for use in discussions, meetings of internal and external constituents.

Program / Events Management:
  • Coordinates program planning under supervision and in collaboration with other staff.
  • Help organize and run advising-focused programs, including setting-up Zoom/webinars, corresponding with panelists, arranging catering, scheduling, managing logistics and promotion.
  • Coordinate and help-support post-event activities such as surveys, and feedback collection.
  • Support advising-focused programming under supervision and in conjunction with other staff including email/newsletter list management, meeting/event documentation, document management, etc.
  • Professional development, and other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn common organization or research specific and other computer application programs.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Strong service orientation.

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
  • Experience with or ability to learn UC Berkeley Bear Buy purchasing system, or similar large-organization purchasing tools.

Salary & Benefits

This position is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience within the range of $31.13 - $35.92.
