Position Summary:

The Department of Chemistry Administrative Coordinator provides administrative support to the Department Chair, faculty, staff and the undergraduate and graduate chemistry program. Primary responsibilities include: course scheduling, academic enrollment, graduate program coordination, hiring official for faculty and staff positions, creating and updating content for communication platforms, organizing seminars, meetings and events, travel reimbursements, customer service and general office duties. This position also assists the department materials and fiscal manager with purchasing, receiving, inventory management and administrative paperwork.

Required Qualifications:

•High School graduate or equivalent
•Demonstrated knowledge of general office practices and procedures
•Familiarity with course scheduling and course registration processes
•Familiarity with graduate program coordination
•Familiarity with general hiring practices and procedures
•Working knowledge of fiscal administration
•Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and communicate a variety of policies and restrictions.
•Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
•Good working knowledge of photo-editing and desktop publishing software and ability to learn website technology platforms such as Cascade, Blackboard, Banner, group calendars, listservs, Facebook and Twitter
•Excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

•Some college level work or post-high school classes
•Prior fiscal administration experience.
•Prior graduate program coordination experience.
•Good working knowledge of hiring practices and procedures in Higher Education.
•Experience with course scheduling and course registration process in Banner.
•Experience with Qlik reporting tool.
•Experience in creating content for web pages, social and other communication platforms.

Advertised Pay Range:

Up to $39,000, commensurate with experience

Conditions of Employment::

Occasional evening and weekend work required, i. e., during open house, home coming, lectures, special events, etc.

This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
