Position Summary:

UCI is a global leader for esports - where academia and industry collaborate to improve competition, advance research, engage communities, create entertainment, and launch careers. Founded in 2016, UCI was the first public university to develop an esports program, which is widely regarded as one of the best and most comprehensive in the world.

Manages the daily operations for the UCI League of Legends team including recruitment, tryouts, practice, competition, and summer camps. Has autonomy to set strategy, analyze problems, and determine appropriate action. Creates positive team environment in close coordination with the Director, Player Support Coordinator, and student team manager.

Compensation Range:

$37,900 - $57,900

2 years knowledge of program activity and industry best practices. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization, internally and externally. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties. Experience dealing with a wide range of players Interpersonal and problem-solving skills Fluency in English.


Knowledge of UCI campus policies and procedures. Extensive champion, role, and game knowledge for League of Legends. Experience working in a professional League of Legends League such as the LCS or LEC Bachelor’s Degree in related field Proficiency with social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and others.

Special Conditions Required:

Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check. Must be willing to work in the evenings and on weekends when practices and competitions are most likely to be scheduled. Typically, practices occur between 5pm-10pm PT on weekdays. Matches are typically in the afternoons on weekends.

Final candidate subject to background check. As a federal contractor, UC Irvine is required to use E-Verify to confirm the work status of individuals assigned to perform substantial work under certain federal contracts/subcontracts.
