JOB SUMMARY:

Performs employee relations duties with focus on positive employment relationship that contributes to greater employee morale, productivity and motivation. Advises supervisors and employees regarding the disciplinary process and the management of performance problems or deficits. Conducts issue intake, conducts investigations and recommends outcomes for staff and faculty relations concerns. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Consulting, Advising, and Internal Reviews/Assessments:
Conducts intake process for complaints from employees, supervisors, or other parties. Interviews parties involved and makes findings and recommendations regarding resolution. Facilitates mediation and resolution between parties. Reviews disciplinary actions as applicable to ensure compliance with appropriate policy and procedure. Educates departments on the discipline policy and other applicable University policies. Conducts workplace investigations (Title VII). Acts as a case manager for Title IX complaints that come to HR.

25% - Essential - Staff Relations Programs:
Manages and oversees the development, scheduling, delivery of training initiatives. Coordinates on-site seminars, webinars, and other events to pro- actively improve employee relations. Conducts regular meetings with key departmental leaders and facilitates trainings, listening sessions, and other proactive measures to improve employee relations. Monitors Staff and Faculty relations metrics and data to generate reports for leadership and managers as appropriate in order to improve employee relations. Maps and documents business processes.

20% - Essential - Performance Management:
Provides guidance and training to employees and supervisors, including consulting on performance related concerns including substandard performance issues. Reviews planning and review stage forms when submitted and addresses inconsistencies or concerns with supervisors. Educates departments on performance management policy. Facilitates the Warning Notice of Substandard Performance and PIP processes as appropriate. Develops innovative solutions to address performance concerns. Suggests edits to internal processes for managing poor performance.

15% - Essential - HR Initiatives, Compliance and Special Projects:
Collaborates with other OHR units to assist with employee relations and compliance matters including Human Resources Information System upgrades and other software or program changes driving increased efficiency or process improvements. Revises, drafts and provides training on HR policies and procedures. Participates in special projects at a unit and/or department level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree
Experience - 5+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or Psychology.
Experience - 7+ years
Certifications - Internal Investigations Certificate, Professional in HR, Professional in HR - Senior

RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or Psychology.
Experience - 7+ years
Certifications - Internal Investigations Certificate, Professional in HR, Professional in HR - Senior

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 06 ($ 40,759.00 - $ 61,700.00)
